MORE ABOUT THE FRIENDS OF THE MUSÉE DAPPER

Ever since it was founded in 1984 by its President, Christiane Falgayrettes-Leveau, the association has sought to build on our existing knowledge of the arts and cultures of sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean and their diaspora, and to share it with as many people as possible

  • by furthering the acquisition, conservation and exhibition of genuine works of art,
  • by encouraging gifts and loans to the museum in order to give researchers, different generations of Africans and all other interested persons access to a representative set of works and related documents,
  • by improving knowledge of traditional African arts, both in France and abroad, staging roundtable discussions and exhibitions, with loans from public and private collections,
  • by assisting in the publication of books and research on traditional African arts,
  • by organizing encounters and live art performances (storytelling, drama, dance and music).

Members of Les Amis du musée Dapper include not only art lovers, specialists and people interested in learning about other cultures, but also businesses and institutions.
